Eagle Seven Technologies, LLC is seeking a Systems Engineerto help lead technical design, planning, and implementation of our hardware and Operating System strategy. This role will serve as a technical expert with direct influence over the design and implementation of our trading systems. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have a strong sense of ownership and be driven to provide technical solutions to business problems.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to structure a hardware strategy including standards, life-cycle periods, vendors, and capacity
  • Serving as technical operating system expert for Linux and Windows; directing migration to new OS standards, maintaining images and OS patches
  • Establishing guidelines and methods for the installation and management of host operating systems
  • Evaluating new hardware and software technologies; talking to hardware vendors, stay informed and up-to-date on next generation trading hardware, and making recommendations on new hardware platforms and other network technologies
  • Developing new applications and scripts to automate and improve operational reliability and efficiency
  • Maintenance, administration and capacity planning of data storage solutions
  • Maintaining the monitoring and alerting systems

Requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in System Engineering/Administration or related field
  • Experience with scripting languages and source control; Python and Git preferred
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Chef or Salt
  • Experience administering Windows Active Directory and Group Policies
  • Strong working knowledge of Hyper-V / SCVMM
  • Strong knowledge of storage technologies (EMC, Isilon, NetApp, XIV) and file systems (NFS, GlusterFS, ZFS)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated to identify and problem solve issues in a timely manner
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Knowledge of the financial industry preferred
